Math Camp, and raising my hand

The MBA starts with Math Camp: compound interest, the time value of money and a few other basics that come back in every class after.

One day the professor asked if someone would volunteer to present a case to the class. To be honest, I did not understand everything in that class. I volunteered anyway.

That decision pushed me to stand up and talk in front of a room I barely knew, and to work through the math case myself, mostly on compound interest, until I could explain it.
